The Boston Red Sox have received some bad news in regards to Will Middlebrooks.
The young Middlebrooks has reportedly been diagnosed with a broken right wrist. He was hit in the wrist by a pitch in Friday night’s game.
The rookie is expected to be done for the rest of the season. Danny Valencia, who was recently acquired by the Red Sox, is expected to be called up to replace Middlebrooks.
Valencia will be added for Saturday’s game.
“He was in a lot of pain,” said Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine. “Straight on bone.”
He has played in 74 games this season. He has a .292 batting average with 15 home runs and 54 RBI’s.
