Plaxico Burress is heading to Foxboro to work out with the New England Patriots.
Burress has not garnered much interest in free agency these past few months. There were rumors a few weeks ago that he would sign with the St. Louis Rams, but those talks never happened.
He would have to prove to the Patriots that he is worth a contract since they already have a logjam at the position. He would probably take the position that Chad Johnson had last season.
And should he sign, Deion Branch or Donte Stallworth could be released.
He played with the New York Jets last season, earning nearly $3.017 million. He signed with the Jets instead of accepting a two-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A few days ago, Burress said he would lower his contract demands. He is not willing to accept a one-year deal, worth $1 million dollars.
He played in 16 games last season, his first season since a two-year jail sentence. He had 45 receptions for 612 yards and eight touchdowns.
He previous played with the New York Giants (2005-2008) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (2000-2004).
