When Matt Flynn signed with the Seattle Seahawks this off-season, he thought he would become the team’s starting quarterback.

Flynn was not named the team’s starter. Instead, the Seahawks have named third-round pick Russell Wilson their starting quarterback for week 1.

On Friday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll would not officially name Wilson the starter.

“He’s done everything we’ve asked him,” Carroll said. “When (GM John Schneider) was excited about drafting him and we got the momentum going to make that pick, this is the guy we hoped that he would be.”

In three pre-season games, he has gone 35-for-52 for 464 yards. He has also thrown five touchdowns to one interception in three games.

He has also rushed 10 times for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Prior to signing with the Seahawks, Flynn spent four seasons with the Green Bay Packers. During the 2011 season, he made five appearances, including one start. He won that game.

He went 33 of 49 for 518 passing yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions.

With the Packers, he’s 1-1 in two starts and 34 appearances.

In his lone season with the Wisconsin Badgers after transferring from the North Carolina State Wolfpack, he went 225 of 309 in 14 starts for 3,175 passing yards. He also had 33 touchdowns and four interceptions.
