Hunter-Reay wins the second annual Grand Prix of Baltimore

Baltimore, MD — DHL/Sun Drop Citrus Soda IndyCar driver Ryan Hunter-Reay has won the second annual Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT in the Streets of Baltimore. Hunter-Reay led 13 of the possible 75 laps.

He also received 50 wins in the win. This is Hunter-Reay’s first win of the season since he won three straight from June 16th through July 8th.

Hunter-Reay began his three wins in a row with a win at Milwaukee. He then won at Iowa, before closing the three in a row at Toronto.

This win also gives Hunter-Reay his fourth win of the season. That surpasses his tie with Will Power, who has not won a race since April 29th at Sao Paulo.

Hunter-Reay is now 17 points behind Power for the points lead, as he has 453. Hélio Castroneves is third with 401 points, 52 points behind Power.

PPG Automotive Refinishes IndyCar driver Ryan Briscoe for Roger Penske finished second. He also led 11 laps and received 40 points.

HP IndyCar driver Simon Pagenaud for Schmidt-Hamilton Motorsports was the third-place finisher. He also led 14 laps and picked up 35 points.

Power, who won last year’s inaugural event, led 22 laps. Mi-Jack IndyCar driver Takuma Sato for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing also led 12 laps.

GoDaddy.com IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe for Andretti Autosport also led two laps. Barracuda Networks IndyCar driver Alex Tagliani for BHA/Curb-Agajanian also led one lap.

Eight cars did not finish the race. NovoLog FlexPen IndyCar driver Charlie Kimball for Chip Ganassi Racing, finished 18th after leaving the race on lap 65 with a drive train problem.

Quaker Chemical IndyCar driver Bruno Junqueira for Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing left the race on Lap 64 with a suspension problem. He finished in the 19th position.

Geico/Mouser Electronics IndyCar driver Tony Kanaan for KV Racing Technology left the race on Lap 52 following a crash and finished 20th. Sato battled a fuel pressure problem before leaving on Lap 50 and finishing in the 21st position.

Nuclear Clean Air Energy IndyCar driver Simona de Silvestro for Keith Wiggins left on Lap 38 after a crash and finished in the 22nd position.

Bing/McAfee/TrueCar IndyCar driver Sébastien Bourdais finished in the 23rd position after leaving on Lap 32 following suspension problems.

Boy Scouts of America IndyCar driver James Jakes for Dale Coyne Racing finished 24th after crashing on Lap 31. Fuzzy’s Vodka IndyCar driver Ed Carpenter for Ed Carpenter Racing crashed on Lap 7 and finished in the 25th position.
