The Boston Red Sox have signed free agent outfielder/DH Jonny Gomes.
Gomes signed a two-year, $10 million dollar deal with the Red Sox. There was speculation that he would receive a one-year deal on the market.
This contract is pending a physical, and the only thing stopping the deal from happening. He earned $1 million last season with the Oakland Athletics.
The Athletics attempted to sign Gomes to a one-year, $2 million dollar deal in September.
In 99 games, he had a .262 batting average with 18 home runs and 47 RBI’s. He also has a career .894 OPS in his career against left-handers.
