Arkansas State has found its replacement for Gus Malzahn after he left the school to become the Auburn head football coach.

Bryan Harsin

The Red Wolves have hired former Texas offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin as its new head coach. Harsin was the Texas offensive coordinator after spending the past 10 years on the Boise State coaching staff.

Prior to Texas, he spent the last five years at Boise State as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

“We are extremely excited to name Bryan Harsin as our new head football coach,” said Red Wolves athletics director Terry Mohajir. “Coach Harsin has a proven track record of success, helping produce one of the best football brands in the country and also working with one of the top programs of all- time. He has strong experience developing quarterbacks, which was important to me, and always puts his players first.”

Harsin takes over a Red Wolves team that went 9-3 and won the Sun Belt Conference championship this past season.

“This is a tremendous honor to be the head football coach at Arkansas State University,” said Harsin. “I’ve prepared a long time for this opportunity, and I’m looking forward to building on a strong foundation already in place here. I’ve felt the enthusiasm surrounding this program, and that is very exciting.”
