Bucks name Jim Boylan as interim head coach

The Milwaukee Bucks have promoted assistant coach Jim Boylan as interim head coach. He replaces Scott Skiles, who was fired by the team.

He will be a head coach for the first time since the 2007-08 season. That’s when he spent one season as the interim head coach for the Chicago Bulls.

He also replaced Skiles as the Bulls head coach once he was fired in December 2007.

As the Bulls head coach, the team went 24-32. The team finished fourth in the Central Division and missed the playoffs.

After leaving the Bulls, he has spent the past several seasons as an assistant coach under Skiles with the Bucks. He joined the Bucks in 2008.

He also was an assistant coach with the Bulls from 2004 through 2007. He also spent one season with the Atlanta Hawks in 2003-04.

Boylan was an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns for a season in 2001-02. He also was an assistant coach with the Vancouver Grizzlies from 1997 through 2001.

Before joining the Grizzlies, he spent several seasons as a scout with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 1992 through 1997. He also was the New Hampshire Wildcats head coach from 1989 through 1992.

He also was an assistant coach with the Michigan State Spartans from 1986 through 1989. He also served as a head coach of Vevey Basket from 1982 through 1986 in Switzerland.
