The Philadelphia Soul have re-signed defensive standout Brandon Perkins to a two-year deal.
This upcoming season would be Perkins’ third with the team. He played in 11 games with the Soul this past season, where he had 4 sacks and 18 total tackles. He also had 8 tackles for a loss.
“Brandon is a ‘cornerstone-type’ player that we can build around,” said Soul general manager Tom Goodhines. “He is one of the best ‘mack’ linebackers in the game and has the unique ability to make his teammates better by creating opportunities through the way he plays the game. He is the type of player an organization is proud to have – both on and off the field.”
Prior to coming to the Soul, he played the 2010 season with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, who are no longer in existence. With the Yard Dawgz, he had 14.5 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.
He also spent time with the Los Angeles Avengers in 2007 and 2008. He had 52 tackles and five sacks during the 2008 season. He also had three pass breakups and two forced fumbles that year.
