The Arizona Diamondbacks have reportedly approached first baseman Paul Goldschmidt after signing him to a long-term contract extension. However, at this time, he has informed the team that he would like to hold off on contract talks at this time.

At this time, it is not clear when the two sides are going to go back to the negotiations table on potentially a long-term deal. Players have a tendency to hold on to negotiations during the season, as it could be a distraction for them.
