The Arizona Diamondbacks have approached first baseman Paul Goldschmidt about a long-term extension.
Reportedly, Goldschmidt has informed the team that he wanted to wait it out before talking. He had a .286 batting average with 20 home runs and 83 RBI’s in his first full season.
He is not arbitration eligible until the 2015 season. He made $482,00 this past season.
He became the first Texas State player to make it to the majors in 2011. He made his debut with the Diamondbacks on August 1, 2011.
In his career, he has a .278 batting average with 28 home runs and a 108 RBI’s.
