It did not take long for free agent Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to find a job.

Late on the second day of free agency, Rodgers-Cromartie has signed with the Denver Broncos. His deal is for one year and $5 million dollars.

He will be 27-years-old in April, but has been an underachiever in his NFL career. He finished last season with the Philadelphia Eagles with 51 tackles and three interceptions, after starting all 16 games.

He also broke up 17 passes with the Eagles.

He has No. 1 corner back talent, but he has not produced as a No. 1 corner in his career yet. In addition, he would learn something from Champ Bailey, who will likely be in the Hall of Fame one day.

This is Rodgers-Cromartie’s one shot to prove that he is worth a long-term deal. It is being considered a “boom-or-bust” signing by the Broncos.

If he is able to buy-in to the Broncos defensive scheme and play more physical, he will be an upgrade over Tracy Porter and Tony Carter, who played along side Bailey last season. Chris Harris is expected to remain the slot corner back and nickel back.

Rodgers-Cromartie was with the Eagles for the 2011 and 2012 seasons. He was traded to the Eagles for Kevin Kolb from the Arizona Cardinals, where he played for three seasons from 2008 through 2010.
