Derrick Ross scored the game-winning TD to beat VooDoo

Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Soul have played down to bad teams this season.

It looked like that would be the case again last night, until the final seconds.
The Soul struggled against the Cleveland Gladiators, Pittsburgh Power, and the New Orleans VooDoo.

The Soul escaped in come from behind fashion to defeat the VooDoo, 65-56, last night at the Wells Fargo Center. The Soul are 4-2 all-time against the VooDoo with four straight wins after losses in 2004 and 2005.

The Soul (6-5), when they have played down to lesser competition, gave the Gladiators their first win of the season after losing their first three games. Then, they gave the Power their second win of the season after coming in with a 1-5 mark.

The VooDoo came into the game with a 2-8 record. But now they are going back to New Orleans with a 2-9 record, as the Soul may have figured out their struggles.

The Soul nearly tied the game in the third quarter. If it wasn’t for a batched Dustin Almond two point conversion, the game would have been tied going into the fourth quarter.

Bryan Robinson record his 19th sack in franchise history, which led to Rocco fumbling the ball. Brandon Perkins had the ball fall into his arms, before returning it 35 yards into the end zone to make it 49-48.

Ross scored a 3-yard touchdown, his third of the game, to make it 49-42. This was his 95th rushing touchdown in his career.
