Sergei Bobrovsky is staying put. Despite speculation that the sides would part ways, the goalie and the Columbus Blue Jackets have reached a two-year agreement.

The financial terms of the contract are not disclosed.

This agreement came after the Blue Jackets attempted to trade the reigning Vezina Trophy winner leading up to today’s NHL Entry Level draft in Newark, New Jersey. This is a huge signing for the Blue Jackets, who are close to making the playoffs.

Last season, the Jackets finished in 9th place, just one slot away from making the playoffs. Bobrovsky was a big part of their success and will be a part of their success through 2015, as long as he isn’t traded away at a later date.

He is no stranger to being dealt, as he was traded one year ago from Philadelphia to Columbus.

Last season, Bobrovsky was 21-11-6 and had a .932 save percentage. He also had a 2.00 goals-against average.

In his two seasons with the Flyers, he had a .899 save percentage and a 3.02 goals-against average.

The Blue Jackets went 24-17-7 in 48 games. Next season, the team will hope to build on this success, as they look to end their playoff drought.

The team last made the playoffs during the 2008-09 season. They were swept by the Detroit Red Wings 4-0 in the Western Conference quarterfinals.

Bobrovsky led the team with his aforementioned 21 wins. His backup Steve Mason went 3-6-1 in 11 starts. He also has a 2.95 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.
