Michael Vick has been given the Philadelphia Eagles starting job for Friday night’s preseason game.
Vick will start against the New England Patriots in the Eagles first preseason game. Head coach Chip Kelly was expected to name a starter after practice, and Vick received the ball.
But Kelly said both Vick and Foles are going to get snaps in the game. And much shouldn’t be read into this exhibition opener start for Vick.
If he was the starter for the third preseason game, then fans can read into that as Vick being the starter for the season opener. But that is two games from now, and so much can change during that time.
As previously reported on Monday, Vick took the lead over Foles in the quarterback competition. Kelly could give Foles the start in the second preseason game, then see who is going to start the season from there.
But right now, the belief is that Vick has won the starting job.
Last year, Vick played in 10 games and completed 204 passes for 2,362 yards. He threw 12 touchdowns to 10 interceptions.
Foles, on the other hand, played in 7 games, with 6 starts. He completed a 161 passes for 1,699 yards. He had 6 touchdown passes to 5 interceptions.
