Earlier today, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman was demoted to being the backup quarterback. And now, the Buccaneers can hardly get a draft pick for their roller coaster quarterback.
According to ESPN NFL Insider Chris Mortensen, Freeman is not worth ‘zilch’ from other teams. Plus, with his huge price tag of $8.43 million, it would be extremely hard to trade him.
Freeman is in the final year of his contract, so the Buccaneers may have to wait until the end of the season to rid themselves of Freeman. Right now, rookie Mike Glennon will get the start on Sunday in his first NFL start.
Freeman lost 8 of his previous 9 games over the past year. And is 0-3 to start this season, as the Buccaneers lost to the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, and the New York Jets. The first two losses were by 3 points, then they lost last weekend to the Patriots by 20 points.
Freemen has already received no interest from the Cleveland Browns and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He is 43 of 94 for 571 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions on the season. He also has five rushes for 20 yards.
Last season, Freeman threw for 4,065 yards and 27 touchdowns. Both were career-highs.
