The Houston Texans thought Case Keenum was going to replace Matt Schaub next year and well into the future.

But while that still may be the case, Keenum struggled tonight as Schaub has done all season. Keenum was benched midway through the third quarter in the Thursday Night Football game with the Jacksonville Jaguars on the NFL Network.

As the Texans play hot potato at quarterback, it doesn’t seem like anybody wants the job as the Texans struggle. With a loss on Thursday night, the Texans have lost 11 straight games after winning the first two games.

When Keenum was replaced, Schaub would come in and immediately spark the Texans offense. He would lead the Texans to their lone touchdown in the third quarter.

Keenum did not play as bad as Green Bay Packers quarterback Matt Flynn on Thanksgiving Day, as the Detroit Lions rolled 40-10 over the Packers. Yet, while he wasn’t horrific, he was being outplayed by Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne, and Keenum has struggled to recognize the blitz.

His struggles led the Texans to too many 3rd-and-long plays in the game. Keenum was 16-of-29 for 159 yards, along with a touchdown and an interception. His interception was an embarrassing pass right before the end of the first half.

Keenum, an undrafted quarterback out of Houston, has been benched twice in the past four games. And there’s a very good chance that Keenum will be benched on December 15th in Week 15, as Schaub gets another shot to start.
