East Carolina defeats Ohio in the 2013 Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl

The East Carolina Pirates blew out the Ohio Bobcats in the 2013 Beef ‘O’ Brady Bowl. The Pirates won 37-20 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

This was the sixth edition of this Bowl game. However, it was the first game in the series to be played on December 23rd.

The previous games were either played on December 19th, December 20th, or December 21st.

This was the first blowout in the game since the second edition on December 19th, 2009 when the game was known as the St. Petersburg Bowl. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights blew out the UCF Knights 45-24.

With the win, the Pirates improved to 9-3 on the season. The loss dropped the Bobcats to 7-5.

Pirates quarterback Shane Carden went 29 of 45 for 273 yards. He had one touchdown pass.

Vintavious Cooper led the Pirates with 25 carries for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Hardy had nine receptions for 66 yards.

Bobcats quarterback Tyler Tettleton went 21 of 40 for 228 yards. He had one touchdown pass and three interceptions.

Beau Blankenship led the Bobcats with 21 carries for 66 yards. Donte Foster had six receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown.

East Carolina outscored Ohio 20-6 in the second half. All 20 points came in the fourth quarter.

Cooper scored on a 22-yard rushing touchdown. He also scored on a 31-yard rushing touchdown.

Carden hit John Worthy for a 14-yard receiving touchdown.

Bobcats kicker Josiah Yazdani made two second-half field goals. He first made a 29-yard field goal.

He also made a 28-yard field goal.

The Pirates led 17-14 at halftime. Carden hit Worthy for a five-yard touchdown reception. Breon Allen scored a two-yard rushing touchdown.

Warren Harvey also made a 41-yard field goal.

Daz’mond Patterson put the Bobcats on the board when he caught a 17-yard touchdown reception from Tettleton. Derrius Vick connected with Donte Foster for an 80-yard touchdown reception.
