The New York Knicks will be without Carmelo Anthony in today’s home Christmas Day game.
Anthony suffered a sprained ankle in Monday night’s game. And was a game-time decision leading up to the game, before being ruled out for today’s game an hour before tip-off.
He will not even dress, as he sits on the bench.
Anthony wanted to play in the game, but the Knicks Public Relations Department ruled him out. With Melo out, J.R. Smith will be called to score more with increased minutes.
Iman Shumpert is also expected to get more time along with rookie Tim Hardaway, Jr.
This morning, the New York Post reported that nobody around the Knicks believed that Anthony will miss the game.
“I trust everything about [Anthony] in terms of how he’s thinking, and then the medical people will lead us in the right direction in terms of where he is,” said Knicks head coach Mike Woodson on Tuesday. “We will assess everything [Wednesday] morning.”
