The New York Knicks are without their biggest star on Christmas.
But while Carmelo Anthony will not suit up for the 2:30 pm tip-off, a former Knicks star returned to the Garden. The 36-year-old Stephon Marbury was seen at the Garden shaking hands with and talking to J.R. Smith. He also talked to other Knicks players, as well.
Marbury has been out of the NBA since the 2009. And back in October, he signed a three-year deal with the Beijing Ducks in Chinese Basketball Association.
He played in the NBA from 1996 through 2009. His NBA journey began with the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1996 through 1999. Then, from 1999 through 2001, he played for the then-New Jersey Nets, who are now the Brooklyn Nets.
After being traded for Jason Kidd, he would play the 2001 through 2004 seasons with the Phoenix Suns. He would end his career with the New York Knicks, where he played from 2004 through 2009.
He had a short stint in 2009 with the Boston Celtics, before playing in China since 2010.
