Huskies win Fight Hunger Bowl with interim head coach Tuiasosopo

The Washington Huskies have defeated the BYU Cougars in the Fight Hunger Bowl. The Huskies won 31-16 over the Cougars at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California.

This was the 12th edition of the Fight Hunger Bowl. The Huskies improved to 8-4 with the win.

The Cougars also ended the season with an 8-4 mark.

Washington won with an interim head coach, as Marques Tuiasosopo led the team. He took over Steve Sarkisian departed to become the Southern California (USC) Trojans head coach.

The school announced that Chris Petersen will take over on a full-time basis.

Huskies quarterback Keith Price went 17 of 22 for 123 yards. He had one touchdown pass and one interception.

Bishop Sankey had 21 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Kevin Smith had five receptions for 43 yards.

Cougars quarterback Taysom Hill went 25 of 48 for 293 yards. He had one interception.

Hill had 31 carries for 133 yards and one touchdown. Cody Hoffman had 12 receptions for 167 yards.

The Huskies outscored the Cougars 10-0 in the second half. Price hit Austin Seferian-Jenkins for a 16-yard touchdown reception.

Travis Coons also made a 45-yard field goal.

Washington led 21-16 at halftime. Sankey scored on an 11-yard rushing touchdown.

John Ross scored on an 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Sankey also scored on an 11-yard rushing touchdown.

Cougars’ Hill scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Justin Sorensen made three field goals. He first made a 45-yard field goal. He also made a 31-yard field goal.

Then, he also made a 32-yard field goal.
