Jaromír Jágr will go down as one of the best hockey players in the NHL.
Today, he has made that statement even more true. He scored his 700th goal today, becoming one of seven players ever to reach this mark.
Jágr scored his 700th goal when he put the New Jersey Devils up 2-0. He scored his record goal against the New York Islanders this afternoon.
Jágr, who could retire after this season after his contract is up with the Devils, could finish his career in the 6th spot if he scores 8 more goals over the next month. Mike Gartner retired with 708 goals at the end of his career.
Phil Esposito finished his career with 717 goals. Marcel Dionne retired with 731 goals.
Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, and Brett Hull hold the top three spots. Hull is third with 741 goals, while Howe has 801 goals and “The Great One” scored 894 goals.
