On Monday, March 31st, Ashley Force-Hood is stepping into the driver’s seat once again.
Force-Hood will be testing her sister Courtney Force’s Traxxas Funny Car, and will be making the tests at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This is the first time that Force-Hood has tested a Funny Car since the end of the 2010 season.
“Yes, Ashley will be making two-to-three passes on Monday,” said Elon Werner, John Force Racing spokesman. “She will be making the passes to get licensed after her license expired while she had the two babies.”
At the end of the 2010 season, Force-Hood finished third in the final Funny Car standings. She finished with 2,449 points, and was a 172 points behind her father.
John Force finished 1st in the standings, and at that time, won his 15th NHRA Funny Car Championship. Force finished with 2,621 points, while Matt Hagan finished second with 2,579 points.
Since Force-Hood has been out of the driving seat, she had two sons with her husband Danny Hood, who is the assistant crew chief on Courtney’s Traxxas Funny Car. Hood, the former John Force Racing parts manager, and Force-Hood had Jacob John in August 2011, then in May 2013, the couple welcomed Noah William into the world.
She has served as the President of John Force Entertainment since January 2011. Force-Hood’s last win came at the MacTools US Nationals in Indianapolis.
She won the famous event in 2009 and 2010, and John Force Racing has won the event dating back to 2008. In 2009, she became the first woman to win the MacTools US Nationals in a Funny Car.
“There’s nothing imminent on her return,” said Werner. “As we’ve talked about, she has talked about wanting her two kids to see her race. At this time, there is no time table on when she will return.”
