First Acquital was able to beat Royal Suspicion by a nose and Rubindy by a head to win at Monmouth Park.
The winning horse was ridden by Gabriel Saez, who will get a portion of the $42,000 allowance/optional claiming feature. The horse covered the track in 1:43 3/5, while paying $24.20, $7.40, and $3.
Royal Suspicion finished second for the $95.20 exacta, and also paid $4.80 and $3.20. Rubindy, the post favorite, paid $2.10 to show.
“The pace was quick which really helped out,” said Eddie Broome, First Acquital’s owner and helps train the horse. “She’s been training well. She’s been a happy girl since coming back to New Jersey and she showed up this afternoon and showed it.”
This was her 10th win in 51 career starts. She also had six weeks rest before the race today.
