Sam Hornish Jr. came into the NASCAR Nationwide race at Iowa Speedway with no wins.

Just a few hours after the Get to Know Newton 250 started, he picked up his first win at the speedway. He had to hold off Ryan Blaney, who finished in second place.

Blaney was the pole sitter for the race, while Hornish Jr started from the second position. The win was also Hornish Jr’s first win this season.

In addition, it was his first win since a 2013 win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He finished fourth at last year’s race at Iowa.

Blaney led 81 laps, and the top five also included Regan Smith, rookie phenom Chase Elliott, and Elliott Sadler.

The young Elliott kept his Nationwide Series points lead, and has a two-point lead over Smith.
