The NHRA are still holding out hope of holding the NHRA Southern Nationals tonight.
Normally, the race will be over by now. However, after a long rain delay, the eliminations have been put on hold for now.
The NHRA Safety Safari has begun to clear the track of the rain. This typically takes several hours to complete.
The likelihood is that the NHRA get several runs in tonight, but will ultimately have to complete the race tomorrow morning.
With the rain and clearing ongoing, maybe it will help the teams from the engine explosions and wild rides that has occurred during the past two days.
Antron Brown went for a wild ride on Friday night, before walking away on his own terms. Yesterday, both Tim Wilkerson and Jack Beckman experienced engine explosions, blowing parts of their Funny Car body into the air.
