The Montreal Canadiens have received a major blow, as they get ready for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Starting goalie Carey Price will miss the remainder of the Eastern Conference Finals.

He injured his knee in Game 1 when a New York Rangers player ran into him.

With Price out, the Canadiens will have to rely on Peter Budaj. He has been decent in Price’s absence during the regular season and will have to come up with some big performances.

While he is out for the Eastern Conference Finals, there’s still a good chance that he could play in the Stanley Cup Final. First, the Habs need to make it that far, and that will be more difficult with Price hurt.

Montreal is too dependent on Price. And it’s very unlikely now that they’ll do the same with Budaj, who will have a hard time measuring up to Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist.

This season, Price had a 2.32 GAA with a 34-20 record in 59 games.

At press time, we do not know the severity of Price’s injury. However, it has to be a serious one for him to be out the rest of the Eastern Conference.

The Canadiens may give a glimpse of what Price is dealing with. Yet, with hockey teams being discreet with the injuries for the most part, we may not know for a long time — if it does leak out to the media at a later date.
