During the playoffs, Seattle Seahawks corner back Richard Sherman called San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree trash.
However, the 49ers did not look at him as trash. In fact, they look at him as a key piece of their future.
According to the CSN Bay Area, the team is willing to pay Crabtree $10 million per season. They believe that’s his “absolute ceiling” for a new deal.
In his young career, he has just one 1,000-yard season in five years. He also has never surpassed nine touchdowns in a season.
He has started 22 games in 63 regular season games. Many attribute his lack of stats due to the 49ers run-heavy offense.
While he isn’t going to hurt a team deep, he has have excellent route running skills and sure hands. He’s the 49ers No. 1 receiver.
He is scheduled to make $3.5 million in the final year of his contract.
