Courtney Force has just become the 100th winner by a female in the NHRA. Force defeated Cruz Pedregon in the final round to win the NHRA Kansas Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka in Topeka, Kansas.

It is her first win of the 2014 win and now she is in the Traxxas Shootout. Her entire team celebrated with her after the win.

“There is a lot of emotions,” said Force. “You saw a lot of it on my face from last week. I need to send out an apology to Cruz because I almost screwed myself. I wanted to pull in there deep for a stage. I didn’t mess myself up and once I got my foot on the clutch, he was going.

“It’s been a long weekend for us, but I’m so proud of my guys. They work day in and day out along with (crew chief) Ron Douglas and (Assistant Crew Chief) Danny Hood. For all the females out there, this one is for you. These girls know how to win. It’s a hard battle out there. It’s not an easy choice, and we didn’t know if we were going to get it. We fought until the end, and thankfully, our Traxxas Ford Mustang was in the winner’s circle. Thanks to Traxxas, Ford, Mustang, Peak, and Brand Source for helping us get to the winner’s circle.”

While Force was the 100th, Shirley Muldowney won the first NHRA race winner by a female. Retired racer Angelle Sampey had 41 wins in her career, the most by a female racer ever.

The NHRA is the only motorsports company with a 100 female winners. IndyCar only has 1 win by Danica Patrick, while NASCAR has never had a female winner.

Force also had the chance to win the special Wally last week at Atlanta Dragway. Her teammate Robert Hight beat her in that final round.

After that loss, she was crushed, because she wanted to win that Wally so badly.

“I was trying not to think about it,” Force added. “After last week, I was pretty much crushed, and you can see it on my face. I don’t like crying in front of anyone, but you know what, it was draining. It was my emotion, and it just had to show. I got this win, and I tried to do it for all the girls out there. This is our 100th, and we have 100 more to go.”
