Veteran running back Shonn Greene could be without a job.

There’s speculation that Greene could be released by the team. He’s scheduled to make $2.3 million this season.

He averaged 3.83 yards per carry last season. In addition, he has undergone two right knee surgeries in the past nine months.

Bishop Sankey, who is a rookie, is expected to be the Titans new starting running back. He was the first running back draft in the 2014 NFL Draft in the second round.

Bishop will be given the opportunity to handle short-yardage, but the Titans could always change their mind. If the team goes through with releasing Greene, then Jackie Battle would back up Sankey.

Last season was his first year with the Titans after four years with the New York Jets. He had 77 carries for 295 yards and 4 touchdowns in 11 games.

These were the fewest carries and yards in his career.
