This season could be the final season in Dallas for corner back Brandon Carr.

ESPN Dallas reporter Todd Archer is reporting that he believes this season will be it for Carr. He had a horrible 2013 season, and was uncomfortable playing zone defense.

He was not the right fit for former Cowboys defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin and his Tampa 2 defense.

“If Carr plays the way they thought he would play when he signed in 2012, then he’ll be back and they can restructure his contract,” said Archer. “If he plays just OK, then I think this could be it for him.”

After last season, Kiffin was let go and the team promoted Rod Marinelli to be the new defensive coordinator. The former Chicago Bears coordinator is expected to employ a more preferred coverage that favors Carr.

He has never been an elite cornerback with the Cowboys or the Kansas City Chiefs. He has been in the NFL for 6-years now and it’s unlikely that he will become an elite corner overnight.

He has been with the Cowboys since the 2012 season after spending his first four years with the Chiefs.
