On Wednesday night, the New York Yankees have accomplished a feat that they haven’t in more than two decades.
The Yankees have scored 4 or fewer runs in the past 12 games. It is their longest streak without scoring 5 or more runs since September 1991, and that streak lasted exactly 12 games.
The Yankees scored four runs against the Seattle Mariners. They scored a run in the third inning, then added three more runs in the fifth inning.
Mark Teixeira had three RBI’s, while Jacoby Ellsbury had the other RBI.
The Yankees will play one more game with the Mariners with a 10:10 eastern time start. If they can’t snap the streak while playing the Mariners, they open a three-game set with the Oakland Athletics on Friday night.
