The Cleveland Cavaliers have a new head coach. However, it is not a coach you would think from inside the Association.
The team has agreed to terms with David Blatt, who will be entering his first head coaching position in the NBA. He was offered the position last night after meeting with Cavs officials the past two days.

Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Tyronn Lue was also a finalist for the position before it went to Blatt. The 55-year-old Blatt has been coaching in Europe for the past 20 years.
His stops have included stops in Israel, Greece, Russia, and Turkey. He also guided Maccabi Tel Aviv to the Euroleague Championship this past season.
“David Blatt has reached agreement on a deal to become Cleveland’s coach, league source tells Yahoo Sports,” Reporter Adrian Wojnarowski said on Twitter.
The move to the Cavs is expected to be an easy one, as he has been friends with new general manager David Griffin. If Griffin did not make this offer, the Golden State Warriors were expected to hire him as an assistant coach under new head coach Steve Kerr.
Blatt is the Cavs’ third coach in the past three seasons. In addition, the team has not made the playoffs since LeBron James left in 2010.
The veteran coach is taking over a team that went 33-49 this past season. He takes over the team after the Cavaliers decided to part ways with former head coach Mike Brown.
Kyrie Irving led the Cavaliers. He averaged 20.8 points per game as a 21-year-old.
Irving was the only Cavaliers player to score in double-digits. Fellow youngster Dion Waiters, 22, was second in scoring with 15.9 points per game.
Being that Blatt is coming from the overseas game, there may be a learning curve for the coach, as it takes time to adjust to the NBA game. How long will he feel comfortable? Only time will tell.

Blatt's a tremendous hiring for Cleveland. He's an original thinker, a great communicator and tactician, a coach unafraid to try and fail.
