Angie and Matt Smith to face off in the 2014 Epping PSM final round

Angie Smith has seen her husband Matt win two NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championships.

The couple will be facing each other in the Pro Stock Motorcycles final round at the Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. This is Angie’s first career final round.

Angie Smith had to defeat Eddie Krawiec in the quarterfinals and then Andrew Hines in the semi-finals. While she was waiting in the top end to walk to Gary Gerould, her husband was about to take off.

Matt Smith defeated Hector Arana Jr. to set up the dream match up. The is the first time a couple has faced each other in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

In 1971, a fellow couple raced each other in the NHRA, as well.

Angie Smith went 6.908 at 193.77 mph to defeat Hines, who went 192.33 mph, according to Drag Race Central. Smith had a great light with a 0.009 reaction time and outran Hines to get the win.

Matt Smith went 6.873 at 195.11 mph to defeat Arana Jr., who went 61.08 mph. Arana Jr. trailed Smith, as he had a 0.080 reaction time compared to Smith’s 0.025.

Husband will have lane choice over his wife in the final round.
