He spent 16 seasons with the Flames. Then, the played part of the 2012-13 season with the Penguins. And played last season with the Bruins.
Iginla — who is now 37 — wanted to re-sign in Boston. However, they did not have the cap space to keep him.
“In the NHL it’s hard to pick which team is going to win, but you want to be on a contender and I think at this stage of my career that is very important,” Iginla told Sportsnet. “I know Boston, they have a great shot, a great team and they work very hard and they’re committed. Unfortunately, it didn’t end the way we wanted it to this year in Boston, but they’ll be right back there and have a great shot again and I realize that.
“But it wasn’t a full option and Colorado, to me, is a young, dynamic team and they’re just getting better.”
In his career, Iginla has scored 560 goals in 1,310 games. He has also had 607 assists for 1,167 points.
He has had 378 even-strength goals. He also had 169 power-play goals and 92 game-winning goals.
