Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Mike Trout has been named the All-Star game MVP. This is his first All-Star game MVP, which could be one of many for the talented Trout.
He went 2-of-3 in the game with a double, triple, and two RBIs at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

“I’m speechless right now,” Trout said. “It’s special being a part of this night.”

He is the fourth Angels player to receive the award. He joins Garret Anderson in 2003, Fred Lynn in 1983, and Leon Wagner in 1962.
After being presented with the MVP award, he had the opportunity to pick a Chevy Corvette or a Chevy Silverado Pickup truck. His mother wanted Trout to pick the Corvette, and that’s exactly what he did.
“Congrats on being named the MVP,” a Corvette spokesman said.
Trout and Derek Jeter were the lone American League All-Stars with two hits. Jeter went 2-for-2 with a run in his final All-Star game.
Trout, who batted second, grew up a fan of Jeter’s. This is Jeter’s final MLB All-Star Game.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, Trout is the second-youngest player to win the award. Trout was 22 years and 342 days old when he won the award.
The youngest MLB All-Star Game MVP was Ken Griffey Jr. when he was 22 years and 236 days old. Griffey Jr. won the MLB All-Star Game MVP during the 1992 season.

He was the first outfielder to win the MLB All-Star Game MVP since the 2012 season. That’s when New York Yankees center fielder Melky Cabrera won the MLB All-Star Game MVP.
