Le Toux scores twice, as the Union take over the fifth position in the East

Philadelphia – The Philadelphia Union knew they had to take advantage of facing the struggling Montreal Impact to keep up their playoff hopes with months to go.

The Union were able to defeat the Impact, 2-1, at PPL Park. This was the final meeting between the teams this season.

In the two previous meetings, the Union and Impact tied at 1-1 on March 29th at PPL Park. In April, the Impact beat the Union 1-0 in Montreal for one of their three wins this season.

With the win, the Union now have 27 points and are in the fifth position. With an 6-8-9 record, they own the tiebreaker over the Columbus Crew, who dropped to the sixth position with 27 points.

The Union are also 3-1-3 under interim manager Jim Curtin.

Sebastien Le Toux led the Union with both goals. His first goal came in the 12th minute, before adding his second in the 63rd minute with an assist by Andrew Wenger.

Right before the end of the game, Le Toux was kicked in the leg and fell to the ground. He received medical attention on the sideline for several minutes

He was limping off the pitch, as Impact players talked to him, before going into the locker room.

In the 79th minute, the Impact got on the board, as Maxim Tissot scored to make it 2-1. Andres Romero assisted on the play.
