The NFL has suspended Dallas Cowboys corner back Orlando Scandrick for the first four games of the regular season. He has been suspended for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy.
He was supposed to start the season as a starter opposite of Brandon Carr. Now is expected to force Morris Claiborne to step up and avoid nagging injuries that has hampered him throughout his career.
This is another blow to the Cowboys defense, that was the worst in the league last year. In May, the team suffered a season-long injury to star linebacker Sean Lee, who is expected to be out for the rest of the season.
According to Pro Football Focus, Scandrick was a top 15 cover corner last season. Right now, Sterling Moore is slated to start the season as the No. 3 corner.
The 27-year-old has been with the Cowboys since the 2008 season. He started all 16 games last season with 64 tackles, 2 sacks for a loss of 12 yards and 2 interceptions.
