Vince Young has been hired by the University of Texas to work in their Division of Diversity and Community Engagement. One of his tasks at his new position is to work with Alumni relations.

His other is to help focus on programs that work with first-generation college students, who come from low-income backgrounds.

He’s expected to start his new position on September 1st. According to the Austin American-Statesman, he’s expected to make $100,00 per year.

“The position with DDCE is a great way to stay connected to the university and  help make a difference in the lives of underserved kids across the state,” Young said in a statement.

Moving back to Texas can help Young get his life back together. He has filed for bankruptcy and has been involved in several financial lawsuits in recent years.

He played in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and the Philadelphia Eagles, last being in 2011 with the Birds. He was the Titans first-round draft pick and was an Offensive Rookie of the Year, before going to two Pro Bowls.

Last year, he completed his bachelor’s degree — years after leaving school early for the NFL. As a starter, he was 31-19 in his career.

“Vince Young brought a national championship to Texas, returned to the Forty Acres to earn his degree and will now help other students reach their goals and change the world,” University President Bill Powers said in a statement.
