Lucas Oil has sponsored the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway for years. Tonight had to be extra special for the Lucas family.

Morgan Lucas has won his first race since becoming a father last November. Neither his wife nor son was at the race, but his parents were in attendance.

Lucas defeated Doug Kalitta in the Top Fuel final round. Lucas went 4.886, crossing the finish line on fire, while Kalitta went 4.987.

“It’s fun,” Lucas said. “This is really what I was hoping it would be, just to come out here and have fun, and when you go rounds that is just the added value to it. I am just really lucky that Lucas Oil and GEICO support me. Racing guys like Doug (Kalitta) and Antron (Brown); they are number one and two in points, they are the best. To win this race again is just a really cool feeling.”

His is Lucas’ 10th win this season. The first win of the season, and the second for Morgan Lucas Racing.

At the NHRA SummerNationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, Lucas’ rookie driver Richie Crampton defeated Kalitta to win his first and only race so far. With the win, Crampton also became the 100th different Top Fuel driver to win a race.
