Tony Kanaan has won the MAVTV 500 at Auto Club Speedway to close out the IndyCar season. This is Kanaan’s first win since winning the prestigious Indianapolis 500 last year.
Kanaan, who took over this year for his close friend Dario Franchitti, won by 3.6750 seconds over second-place finisher Scott Dixon. Following the win, Kanaan dedicated the win to Franchitti, who suffered a career-ending injury in a crash last year, and the late Dan Wheldon.

This is Kanaan’s 16th win in his career dating back to the 2003 season. This was the first time that Kanaan won a race at Auto Club Speedway.

He also won a race in Iowa in 2010 with 7-Eleven with Andretti Autosport. In 2013, he won at Indianapolis with Hydroxycut for KV Racing Technology.
Ed Carpenter finished in third place in his final start in the Ed Carpenter Racing No. 20 Fuzzy Vodka car. Earlier this month, Ed Carpenter Racing and Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing merged into a two-car operation called CFH Racing.
