As Derek Jeter is closing out his New York Yankees career, one of his teammates has been shut down for the rest of the season. Carlos Beltrán will not play another game this season.
Beltrán has been hampered by an elbow injury. He is expected to have surgery to correct the problem with the removal of bone spurs in his right elbow.

He is expected to be back to 100% at the beginning of spring training in February 2015. At 38-years-old that year, he should be able to have a decent season.

In 109 games this season, he had a .233 batting average with 15 home runs and 49 RBIs. He had a .301 on-base percentage and a .402 slugging percentage.
He played 32 games in the outfield and a game at first base. He has been primarily a designated hitter with 76 games.
He was 0-and-4 in his final game on September 19th against the Toronto Blue Jays. On September 15th against the Tampa Bay Rays, he went 1-for-4 with a single.

This was his first season with the Yankees after signing in the off-season. He spent the past two seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Before the Cardinals and the Yankees, he played for the San Francisco Giants, the New York Mets, and the Kansas City Royals. He has a career .283 batting average with 358 home runs and 1,327 RBIs in 2064 games.
