The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night. It was a special moment for future Hall of Famer Derek Jeter.
Jeter got the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth inning, as the Yankees defeated the Orioles 6-5 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

With the win, the Yankees improved to 82-77 on the season. The Orioles fell to 95-64 overall.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Jeter hit a single. Pinch hitter Antoan Richardson was able to score on the play to make it 6-5.
In the top half of the ninth inning, the Orioles scored three runs. They were able to tie the game at 5-5.
With two outs, Steve Pearce hit a solo home run off of David Robertson to deep left field.
Two batters earlier, Adam Jones also hit a home run off of Robertson. Jones hit a two-run shot to the left-field line. Nick Markakis also scored on the home run.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Yankees took a 5-2 advantage. Brian McCann hit a sacrifice fly to right field.
Brett Gardner scored to make it 5-2. In the previous at-bat, Jeter reached on a throwing error.
Ichiro Suzuki and José Pirela scored on the play.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Yankees tied the game at 2-2. McCann reached on an error. Jeter scored on the play.
Jeter hit a double to left field. Gardner scored on the play to make it 2-1.
In the top of the first inning, the Orioles hit back-to-back home runs. Alejandro De Aza hit a home run off of Hiroki Kuroda to deep right field to make it 2-0.
Leadoff batter Markakis hit a home run off of Kuroda, also to deep right field.

Robertson received the win after having his fifth blown save of the season. He pitched one inning and allowed three earned runs on two hits.
He also gave up two home runs and struck out two batters. He also walked one batter.
Meek received the loss. He pitched 1/3rd of an inning. He allowed one earned run on two hits.
