The news is expected to become official at a 1:30 pm news conference. This will be the first ball to drop, which is also expected to cost head coach Brady Hoke his job down the road.

Brandon and Hoke has taken heat as of late when with the struggles of the football program, which is presently 3-5. In addition, they also took hit over Shane Morris, who had a concussion, but Hoke put him back into the game.

Brandon called that situation a lack of communication over the way his concussion was handled. With the severity of concussions, Morris should not have re-entered the game.

He was the first person — not even Hoke — at Michigan to say Morris had a concussion.

“From the field level and without the benefit of replays, medical and coaching staffs did not see the hit,” Brandon said in a statement at the time. “Because they did not see the hit, the athletic training staff believed Shane stumbled because of his ankle injury. The team neurologist, watching from further down the field, also did not see the hit… Shane came off the field after the following play and was reassessed by the head athletic trainer for the ankle injury. Since the athletic trainer had not seen the hit to the chin and was not aware that a neurological evaluation was necessary, he cleared Shane for one additional play.”

With a 3-5 mark, the team is second-to-last in the Big Ten East Division. Only Indiana Hooisers with a 3-4 mark has a worst record — and these two teams face each other tomorrow.

Fans of the program has been calling for Brandon to leave for the past month. Last month, after a 2-3 start, fans had a rally to call for his ouster.

Even fans at this rally wore Ohio State Buckeyes shirts, which is Michigan’s hated rival.

Brandon was named Michigan Athletic Direct on January 5th, 2010. The former Michigan graduate was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Domino’s Pizza Inc. for 11 years before his current appointment.

It is not clear if he’ll go back into the pizza business once he officially leaves today.
