The Washington Redskins have released corner back Chase Minnifield.
He made six appearances this season. He was largely a special teamer.
The Skins are expected to re-sign him to the practice squad should he clear waivers. The team will find out in two days if he’s eligible for the practice squad.
He began the season on the practice squad, before being promoted to the active roster.
He was replaced on the active roster by wide receiver Leonard Hankerson, who is coming off of the reserve/PUP list. Now that he’s back, he’ll be the Skins fourth wide receiver.
He’ll get limited receptions with DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon the top targets. Andre Roberts is the team’s third wide out.
