The Arizona Cardinals have signed quarterback Carson Palmer to a three-year extension. The extension will now run through the 2017 season.
Palmer will reportedly make $50 million from the extension, according to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora. It is not clear how much guaranteed money is part of this new deal.
He would have been a free agent if no agreement would have been reached. The Cardinals did not want to risk losing Palmer, so they agreed to a contract with the signal-caller.
Palmer was having a good season, before being placed on injured reserve with a right shoulder injury. In fact, with the Cardinals, he has had the best seasons of his career since his early years with the Cincinnati Bengals.
