Saulo Cavalari is the king of the upsets at Glory 18. The Brazilian took out top-ranked competitor Danyo Ilungo in the Light Heavyweight semi-final.
In the finale, he would face Zack Mwekassa, who had a second-round knockout against American Brian Collette in his semi-final. In the third round, it would take a high kick 20 seconds into the third round to ruin Mwekassa’s night at the Grand Casino Hotel Resort in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Cavallari would win following no attempt from Mwekassa to get up from the mat. This was Saulo’s first knockout of the evening.

This was Cavalari’s biggest win in his Glory career. The announcers said that Saulo dedicated this win to his late mother, who passed away.
It was also Mwekassa’s first loss in Glory. It seemed like he began to slow in the second round, while Cavalari picked up steam.
Cavalari improved to 4-1 in Glory. The two wins tonight were his first fight since April in Istanbul in a loss to Tyrone Spong.
Mwekassa is 2-1 in Glory. Besides tonight’s semi-final win and the final loss, his Glory debut came in Glory 16 in Denver against Pat Barry.

Cavalari will now get a shot at Light Heavyweight champion Robin Van Roosmalen. He upset Davit Kiria for the belt, but the third win over Kiria in his career.
