The World Series of Poker has crowned its 2014 champion.

Martin Jacobson has become the first Swedish-born player ever to win the event. As the winner, he won a $10 million cash prize.

It is the second-biggest 1st-place prize in WSOP Main Event history. In 2006, Jamie Gold won $12.07 million.

Jacobson beat second-place finisher Felix Stephensen. Jorryt van Hoof was the third place finisher and came into the final day as the chip leader.

All three players were from Europe. van Hoof is from the Netherlands, while Stephenson is from Norway and Jacobson is from Sweden.

“It should be a fun battle,” Jacobson said. “Patience is key in tournament poker. You need to know how to pick your sports, and it’s something I’ve gotten a bit better at over the years.”

Stephensen received $5.1 million for second place, while van Hoof received $3.8 million.

Jacobson, who is 27-years-old, is the oldest player to win the WSOP Main Event since Jerry Yang in 2007. Yang was 39-years-old when he won the Main Event with pocket 8’s for the $8.25 million cash prize.
