Michala Johnson, who is a fifth-year senior on the Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball team, has her season ended with a torn ACL. Johnson was injured on Thursday when she hurt her left knee just nine minutes into the game against the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes.

Now, the 6-foot-3 forward will have to ponder her future, after she rehabs from this injury.

“I’m extremely disappointed for Mickey and the team,” head coach Bobbie Kelsey said. “She is a crucial part of this team but this will give other players a chance to step up.”

Currently, there is no time table on when she’ll do under the knife to repair the ACL.

Last season, she was named first-team All-Big Ten Conference during her redshirt junior campaign. She had a 16.6 points per game average, while having 21 double-figure games.

She also had 7.3 rebounds per game, and had seven double-figure rebound games. She also had a team-high 55.2 shooting percentage from the field, which was third in the conference.

She came to Madison, Wisconsin after playing her first two seasons at the Connecticut Huskies. She had to sit out the 2012-13 season following her transfer.
