Bears’ Brandon Marshall released from the hospital with a collapsed lung and broken ribs

The Chicago Bears got some good news about their wide receiver Brandon Marshall today. He’s no longer in the hospital.

Marshall, who was taken to the hospital on Thursday following a hit during the Bears and the Dallas Cowboys game on Thursday Night Football, has been dealing with two broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

There’s not expected to be any long-term ramifications from his collapsed lung.

As of this report, it is not immediately known when he left the hospital. The Bears are also expected to place the talented wideout on injured reserve, causing him to miss the final three games of the season.

He is expected to make a full recovery from these injuries. According to reports, there are not expected to be any long-term ramifications from these injuries next season and beyond.

Marquess Wilson is expected to start with Marshall no longer able to go. Alshon Jeffrey is expected to be the Bears’ top target for Jay Cutler moving forward.

Marshall is signed for the next three seasons. He’ll be 31-years-old in March.

This season, Marshall played in 13 games, where he had 61 receptions for 721 yards. He also had 2 games, where he had at least 100 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns.

His 61 receptions are the lowest of his career since his 20 receptions as a rookie in 2006 with the Denver Broncos. He had back-to-back 100-plus reception seasons the past two seasons, and five of his nine seasons.

The 2014 season was his third in Chicago. He also spent two years with the Miami Dolphins and the first four years of his career with the Broncos.
