As the Chicago Bears close out the season this Sunday, the team has signed DE Austen Lane. In a corresponding move, the team has placed DE Willie Young on Injured Reserve with an Achilles injury.
Lane has not played this season. He last played as a member of the Detroit Lions last season. He’s also played 2010 through 2012 with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In his career, he had 17 starts in 30 games over four seasons. He had 64 tackles, three sacks, four tackles for a loss, one forced fumble, and thirteen quarterback hurries.
He was signed by the Bears in the off-season. But failed to make the roster, as he was released during training camp.
Lane was a fifth round selection (153rd overall) of the Jaguars in 2010 out of Murray State.
Young, who will not be able to return until training camp, had a career-high 10 sacks. He also had eight starts in 15 games.
He also had 55 tackles, three tackless for a loss, a forced fumble, three pass break-ups and 13 quarterback pressures.
Young also blocked field goal on special teams for Chicago this season.
