He just completed his first season as a defensive coordinator in the NFL. The Lions season came to an end following a loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

He’s never been a head coach at the NFL or collegiate level. So, if the 49ers, Bills, or Falcons hire him, this would be something new for the 49-year-old.

Last year, Mike Zimmer, who previously was a long-time defensive coordinator, was named the Minnesota Vikings head coach.

Prior to this season, he was the Baltimore Ravens secondary coach from 2011 through 2013. He was also the University of Florida defensive coordinator in 2010.

He also was a defensive backs coach with the Arizona Cardinals from 2007 through 2009 and the Seattle Seahawks 2003-2006.

He also coached at several colleges before making the jump to the NFL.
